The Divine Birth of Lord Ram
Lord Ram, the revered 7th incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya. Hindu scriptures state that whenever adharma (unrighteousness) spreads, Lord Vishnu incarnates to restore dharma (righteousness).
When the time came for Lord Ram to become king, his stepmother Kaikeyi invoked a promise and demanded that her son Bharat be crowned instead. This led to Lord Ram’s exile for 14 years (Vanvas). Accompanied by Maa Sita and Lakshman, he traveled through forests, encountering sages, animals, and facing many challenges.
The Epic War with Ravana
During their exile, Ravana, the ten-headed king of Lanka, abducted Maa Sita, leading to an epic battle between Lord Ram’s army and Ravana’s forces. With the help of Hanuman and the Vanara Sena, Lord Ram crossed the ocean to Lanka and defeated Ravana, restoring peace and righteousness.
Upon returning to Ayodhya in Pushpak Vimana (a divine flying chariot), the people celebrated with lamps, marking the beginning of Diwali – the festival of lights. Lord Ram was crowned King of Ayodhya, and his birthplace became a sacred place of worship.
